Dialogue - Mario Calvo

Two teachers are discussing the rights and wrongs of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a school subject. Write down their conversation.

Teacher 1:  Hi! Have you seen the new subject we will have next year? It's called ICT.

Teacher 2: Yes, of course. By the way you said it, I'm afraid you don't like it very much, am I wrong?

Teacher 1: You are right. In my opinion, teenagers spend enough time using their mobile phones and many technological devices, so I think there's no need to create a subject about it.

Teacher 2: I partly agree with you, because it's true that there's an excessive use of mobile phones and social networks among young people. However, nowadays jobs are changing and most of them are getting more involved within new technologies and, because of that, I think this subject is important.

Teacher 1: You are right, in fact, maybe the subject is even too easy for them, as they are completely used to working with technologies.

Teacher 2: I totaly agree, and I think that is the real problem of the subject, that it might not be even useful for students. The person who has decided to include the new subject may be, more or less, of our age, and our generations are less used to technologies than the new ones.

Teacher 1: Absolutely. I couldn't agree more with what you have said, and I think we must expose our ideas to the school principal.

Teacher 2: Why not? Let's go!
